Chief Financial & Administrative Officer
Eric W. Muhlheim is the Chief Financial & Administrative Officer at BuzzFeed, where he oversees the company’s global Finance, Accounting, People,Information Technology, Facilities, Office Services, Security, and Legal teams. In this role he works to advance BuzzFeed’s revenue diversification, growth, and profitability by providing smooth administration, resources and insight, and strategic counsel to stakeholders at every level of the company. Eric started his career at the Walt Disney Company, where he held various leadership roles over more than 15 years. In Disney’s Corporate Strategic Planning Department, he provided consulting and M&A support for Disney’s Studio and Cable divisions, established solid growth foundations for brands such as the Disney Channel and Miramax, and managed the acquisition of the Muppets character franchise. At Disney Publishing, he founded the company’s Disney English division and managed the expansion of its China-based learning centers. He also spearheaded the development of Disney Playmation. Following his tenure at Disney, Eric pivoted to the CFO role in 2013. He served as CFO of Altius Education, managing its acquisition by Helix Education and assuming the CFO role at Helix post-acquisition. At Helix he focused on strategy, controls, and change management, including the acquisition and integration of the Institute for Professional Development, which doubled the company’s size. In 2016 he joined OpenX Technologies, where as CFO he managed the company’s accounting, financial planning and analysis, and business intelligence functions. Eric currently serves on the advisory board of the Center for Democracy and Technology, the board of the Independent Shakespeare Co. of Los Angeles, and the board of Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills. Eric graduated from Princeton University cum laude in Mathematics and holds an MBA from The Stanford Graduate School of Business.
