Prentice Tom, MD, is the Chief Innovation Officer and Executive Vice President of Medical Affairs at Vituity, one of the nation’s leading multi-specialty acute care physician services organization seeing over 6,000,000 patients annually. In these roles, he oversees the development and implementation of healthcare service solutions. Prior to being appointed CIO, Dr. Tom served as Chief Medical Officer, launching patient satisfaction initiatives and developing risk management and CMS programs. He led two of Vituity’s nationally recognized breakthrough initiatives, Rapid Medical Evaluation® (RME) and emergency psychiatry, successfully addressing two of the country’s most significant acute care delivery issues: ED Overcrowding and lack of resources for emergent psychiatric patients. Additionally, Dr. Tom oversaw the development of Vituity’s palliative care program, provided executive oversight for Vituity’s administrative fellowship, developed the Clinical Education Department (granting almost 20,000 CME annually), and visioned Vituity’s enterprise knowledge management processes. Dr. Tom has also served as President of Galen, Hospitalist Physician Services, a Vituity Company. Previous to joining Vituity, Dr. Tom served on the faculty of Stanford University's Department of Emergency Medicine.
