Michael Barnett

Michael joined the Accounts Department of British American Tobacco in 1984 and qualified as a Management Accountant.  He undertook various roles in the Finance Function, including spells working in three continents, before joining the Strategy & Planning team in 2003. Within Strategy and Planning, he has helped guide the formulation and execution of the strategy that has helped British American Tobacco become one of the UK’s three largest companies. In his current role, he is responsible for developing the corporate strategy; supporting the Chief Executive and Management Board; and communicating the strategy to various stakeholders. He obtained an MBA from London Business School in 1998 and enjoys spending time with his family, supporting various voluntary organisations and participating in several sports.
